Park Bridge
You can only fool your wife for so long with the excuse that the Foodland in Patpong is one of the few places that stocks the special dog food Champ loves so much, so it's always good to have another repectable excuse/reason to visit Bangkok's red light Disneyland. As of this typing, there's nothing to see on the venue's website, but you can invite yourself to the opening party on Saturday via Facebook.
I'm always too busy leering at the pretties in front of the cocktail lounges to have looked up and noticed the skybridge that connects the parking lot with the building across the street, which also houses an all-hours snooker parlor, a pool hall and certainly at least a couple of distressingly dodgy bars, but I'm certain there is one now, having stopped by to check the place out last night.
Park Bridge as it is now is a glassed-in container-sized rectangular lounge with a concrete floor that affords nifty views of the admittedly less interesting of the two Patpong sois, with low indirect lighting, manga-inspired murals, silver antlers and trippy koi-patterned bathrooms. The furniture hadn't been moved in yet when I was there - hopefully the movers were able to fit the sofas through the tight spaces without having to chop them into smaller pieces. Music, as it was explained to me, will be DJ driven, more house than hip hop; the clientele they're expecting is more Tapas and Funky Dojo than Camelot Castle. There will be memberships, but at least initially walk-ins are welcome with no cover charge on normal nights.
Unfinished is a huge room that will eventually house a nightclub/gallery/etc. space, but for now it's just the bridge part that will be softly opened to the public tomorrow and more grandly, with the help of DJ Bee of Futon/Rehab fame and Moet Hennessy on Saturday night. Not sure how you reach Park Bridge from the "Sisters" side, but look for the pink-lit concrete entryway on 2B in the parking lot. (A word of advice: if the smell of urine makes you vomit, take the ramps, not the the stairs -- or the elevator -- up.)
