There’s a lot of bad news out there, but the “bright side” to the global economic crisis — and our own political crisis (i.e., Airport Seige I and II) — is some of the most generous deals and innovative promotions we’ve seen in years. Most of these are travel-related, but you can also find dining offers and things like sales on the brands you actually like that run longer than we’re used to.

Unfortunately, in addition to lower prices, many businesses have had to cut what they’re selling. So we’re also updating this site as news comes in, with the latest information on closures, cancellations or schedule changes, from flights to concerts to restaurants.

But we hope you’ll be spending more time here deciding between sparkling seaside resorts than brooding over cancelled events. This may be a time for belt-tightening, but one way to prevent all the negativity from bringing you down is to get out, relax and have some fun.
