60 SECONDS: DJ Phil Drummond

60 SECONDS: DJ Phil Drummond

January 7th, 2010

Known for spinning deep, twisted house grooves at leading celebs’ post-tour parties, DJ Phil Drummond has a heart to heart with us before he takes on the decks at Mode party. See http://bkmagazine.com/feature/nightlife-january-08-2010

First job: Left school and had a hit record. I’ve never really had a “real job” as my mother used to say.

Rule for life: Avoid women under 25.

Can’t live without: The internet, obviously.

Favorite gadget: My MacBook pro. I’m a sucker for anything made by Mac.

Last lie: Told my mum my new car was a lot cheaper than it actually was. Sorry mom.

Favorite audience: Back at a club in East London called Charlie Chans in the early 90s. It was my first residency and I knew exactly what they wanted and they let you know they were enjoying it every single week. Was great fun.

One word to describe your sound: Entertaining.

Listening to: Jalapeno Records.

Most annoying thing I have to encounter everyday: Waking up in the UK. Can’t wait to get out to Asia for a month.

Most inspirational person: I’ve always marched to the sound of my own drum.

What to expect at your gig: Fun! Some people can take this whole thing too seriously. I’ve had 18 years of fun and have no intention of changing now.
