Opened: December, 2009.
The buzz: Dear fashionistas, break out your LV and slip into those Christian Louboutin: this could well be your new favorite hangout. Part of the Fashion TV empire, this studio-cum-bar aims to be an intimate, hard-to-get-in venue where us mere mortals can (potentially) rub shoulders with gorgeous runway creatures and get a glimpse inside the magical world of fashion or just laugh at the funny-looking skinny people.
The décor: Sexy and seductive: black and red lighting, glowing diamond-shaped logos and flat screens showing—you guessed it—FTV, bouncing off all the reflective surfaces. Given the venue’s low ceiling and humble size, it’s surprising how it manages to be intimate without feeling too cramped. While we’re told it’s down to feng shui, we think the central location of the bar separating the dance floor and the lounge area, really is a contributing factor.
The music: The all-encompassing, seven-day-a-week themed nights, range from salsa and hip hop to house and even cabaret.
The price: Cocktails B220-B320, wine 200 (glass), Champagne B280, beer B200, whisky B2,800 and vodka B2,800. Finger food starts from B180.
The crowd: Models, fashionistas, label-queens, creatives and the Chanel-carrying sort of crowd.
Why you’ll come back: You love people watching as much as you love being seen.
