Sanguan Damsanit, 55, local resident, is out rounding up his herd of cattle in a field in Tambon Tha Yang, when he spots what looks like a large black cat trying to eat one of his calves. Sangsuan says that the animal is around 1.3 meters in length and stands one meter high. The sighting comes after reports of unexplained attacks on livestock from the village, which sits next to a national park in Muang district. Thawee Bunyakon, 50, former village chief says that he has never seen or heard of a panther in the province before. He believes that it could have originally been someone’s pet that was released in the national park. Thawee reports the sighting to the livestock department who are now trying to track down the creature.
