In Petchburi, a man chokes to death while competing in a pad Thai eating contest. Hing Laichan, 66, is participating in a pad Thai eating competition at a local fair organized by the Provincial Administrative Organization. As he is finishing his second serving, Hing starts to choke and then falls unconscious. He is rushed to the hospital but doctors are unable to prevent him from dying of suffocation. Payao Laichan, 40, the victim’s daughter, says she’s not even sure why her father entered the competition in the first place because he didn’t normally like to eat noodles.

In Songkla, a woman threatens to sue a luk thung singer for slander. Panida Cuenang, 33, claims that Chaiya Mitchai, famous luk thung crooner, has been telling the press that they are dating. Panida, whose nickname is the same as the singer’s rumored girlfriend, claims that her neighbors have been teasing her since the news broke, which causes her a lot of stress and she even leads her to commit suicide. She wants the singer to come out and defend her reputation otherwise she will sue the singer for defamation. According to her family and friends, Panida has a history of mental illness and has always had a crush on the singer. Chaiya is currently on tour, however, he plans to hold a press conference to clear the air once he’s finished.

In Bangkok, a security guard falls to his death in an elevator. Panya Jitticoke, 30, and Teerachai Choomsing, 48, both work as security guards at the Samco Company. While working the night shift they receive a report of a malfunctioning elevator and go to check on the machine. Panya puts his head through the door but the passenger cabin isn’t positioned at that floor. He looses his balance and falls down the empty shaft.

In Chiangmai, a woman attempts a robbery using a bag of chili powder. Sai, 21, a shop assistant at a leather store in the Waroros Market, is at work when a woman comes up to her, flings chili power in her face and then tries to grab her gold necklace. Sai manages to hang on to the necklace and screams for help. A police officer arrives at the scene and arrests the robber, Chom (not her real name). She confesses that she’s successfully committed the same crime before and claims that she’s only doing it so she has money to send to her son.
