Magic Art Gallery
Magic Art Gallery
July 1st, 2009Opened: June 2009

The concept: Contemporary artist Attasit Pokpong hopes to fill the current art gallery void in Sutthisan and Din Daeng by converting this decrepit shophouse into an exhibition space where artists from all disciplines can showcase their work.
The décor: Don’t expect the Louvre—Magic Art Gallery is as basic as it gets: a converted shop house with white walls and a dark cement floor. The gallery’s inconspicuous frontage really blends in with the row of shophouses so it takes a bit of noticing. While not spacious, the 5 floors can easily house dozens of art pieces and installations. The mezzanine level also adds to the sense of space, making the place open and airy.
The crowd: Art students, art collectors, home decorators, interior designers and European art buffs.
In the present: From now until Aug 21, 12 local artists (including Panya Petchchu, Autsa Waisisaeng, Komkrit Sawadirom, Nukul Panyadee and Attasit himself) present their signature works to celebrate the opening of the gallery.
In the future: A mix of pieces from both international and local, freshly-graduated artists.
