Oh Bar

We like to boogie, but we'd pretty much given up on live music pubs in the Khao San neighborhood. Being packed in like sardines with a mass of sweaty strangers without room to breathe, let alone move, is not our idea of fun. So when a little bird told us about a new venue offering live music in more comfortable surrounds, we enthusiastically headed over to Oh Bar

Ohana Fresh Café (Sukhumvit Rd.)

Ohana Fresh Café

Tucked off Soi 24, home to luxury condos and service apartments, Ohana certainly has a willing audience of wealthy expats and this place doesn’t fluff their lines.

Olive

Olive

When you are just sick of eating out at an Italian or French restaurant, make your way to Olive, and enjoy a big fat Greek meal.

On Lok Yun

On Lok Yun was the Starbucks of your grandfather’s era. These days, this 70-year-old café is still packed with old-timers who drop by for the all-day breakfast over a cup of coffee (B15). No espresso, latte or mocha, let alone creamy blended drinks with unpronounceable names—only sweet Thai-style coffee.

One Dollar

A swanky, lavish European style club that stands alone with little traffic from the strip. The place is carpeted in red velvet, Louis sofas, plenty of comfy seats for all and the feel of a Victorian brothel...in a good way, of course. They serve all sorts of drinks, and their somtum its to die for.

Ootoya Gohan Dokoro

Bustling with university students, this no-frills eatery may have what it takes to be the best in J-Avenue. In the evening, a long wait is inevitable. Once you are seated, expect MSG-free fare delivered to your table by courteous staff.
