OK, the hotel may be named Take A Nap (920-926 Rama 4 Rd., 02-637-0015. www.takeanaphotel.com), but you might be too busy admiring your room to get a good night’s sleep. This new hotel offers visitors a selection of 30 different themed-rooms including Happy Forest, Bang Bang and, uh, Trespassing.
Near the Surawongse branch of Som Boon Pochana is Take a Seat, a two-story white house that churns out Thai fare. The month-old restaurant doesn’t have a proper phone number yet, but you can already drop by to try its specialties like deep-fried seabass with mango salad, tord mun prik yuak (fried fish cakes with bell peppers) and stir-fried cabbage stuffed with minced pork.

 The buzz: The favorite chillout bar on Saphan Huachang has branched out to Khao San, and soon the original location will be closed. The place is good for both diners and serious drinkers. Everyone knows Taksura has good Thai food, and the prices are low.

For an authenic Norther Indian lunch, head to Tandoor and order yourself an Indian business set. The restaurant offers non-vegetarian (B350) and vegetarian (B300) set meals with selection of Indian favourites such as chicker masala, naan and gulab jamun dessert.

 One of the few places on Silom Soi 4 with a mixed crowd, Tapas plays house music nightly with a strong Latin influence, accompanied by live percussionists on the weekends. Renovated this year to a more spacious layout, it still can get pretty packed Friday and Saturday nights.
 This shophouse-wide eatery has quickly attracted a loyal following with its authentic Spanish cuisine, wines and sherries served in a comfy and lively setting. Must-try dishes include Manchego cheese, platters of sliced meats and garlicky prawns.
