Objective:

 
Grow the editorial quality, audience size, and revenue of BK Magazine and Soimilk.
 

Responsibilities: 

 
As editor-in-chief of BK and Soimilk, lead of all editorial strategy, systems, staffing, and coverage decision-making. Devise and implement overall editorial direction, tone, and style.
 
As publisher of BK and Soimilk, support the growth of advertising and event revenue, liaising closely with our in-house brand studio, Grove, which handles all sales and campaign management of advertising and branded content. Steer editorial direction to drive growth of advertising sales and coordinate with Grove on branded content strategy. 
 
Manage editorial teams of BK and Soimilk to drive optimum performance and achieve objectives to ensure editorial excellence. Be a mentor and leader to both managing editors. Implement editorial systems and workflows for online and print publications. Act as editorial head of HR, the first point of contact for editorial staff coordination. Handle all hiring (and termination) of editorial staff to maximize performance and achieve goals.         
 
Lead production of BK’s annual series of guides including Top Tables (fine dining), Best Eats (affordable food), and Top Spots (travel). Work closely with Grove team on production of events supporting annual guides.
 
Act as the main public figure for BK and Soimilk to the media, marketing, PR, F&B, and travel industries of Thailand and beyond. Aim to speak at conferences, write stories, and offer commentary to promote these publications.
 
Lead design and print production of BK Magazine’s bi-weekly print run, working with a team of designers and print coordinators. Assist the managing editor with proofing and editing when necessary. 
 
Regularly write impactful and high-quality stories.  
 
Lead management and strategy of BK and Soimilk social media accounts. 
 
Manage monthly freelance budgets and expenses for both publications. 
 
Lead editorial coordination with the Tech department. Work with editors to distil and offer feedback on design and function of BK and Soimilk websites from an editorial perspective.
 
Occasionally coordinate with Coconuts TV team on original video productions.
 

The ideal candidate will have:

 
At least 7 years of experience working as an editor/journalist at relevant publications with a track record of success.
 
A strong network in Bangkok’s media, marketing, PR, F&B, and travel industries.
 
At least 3 years of management experience.
 
Fluency in both English and Thai, with excellent writing and speaking skills in both languages.
 
A university degree.
