Good news for fans of Kangkao: the hideaway natural wine bar may have moved out of its space beneath Ku Bar on Phra Sumen Road, but it hasn’t gone far.

The wine bar now opens every Friday and Saturday at Nangloeng Shophouse, a new project on Chakkrapatipong Road from founders Elaine Sun and Anupas “Kong” Premanuwat.

As before, the bar serves a rotating selection of natural wines—think 2019 Enderle & Moll Muller-Thurgau and 2018 Domain Ratte Arbois Naturé—plus bar bites. Regulars can also take advantage of new loyalty cards to score deals.

The bar is holding court within a space that is a grocery store, flower shop, and cafe by day. If you can’t get a seat at night, you can still come by every day but Tuesday between 10am-5pm to purchase homemade products like yogurt, jam, and ricotta cheese, as well as local products, bottles of wine, flowers, and indie magazines.

Kangkao will remain at Nangloeng Shophouse for the foreseeable future, but there are plans to branch out in the city as a pop-up, or possibly find a full-time home elsewhere.

Nangloeng Shophouse is small, so reservations are a must. Contact the bar on Instagram @kang.kao or e-mail kangkao.wineclub@gmail.com for seats.
