BANGKOK RESTAURANT

Casa Lapin

The story goes that the owner here, Surapan Tanta, an architect, was frustrated that he couldn’t find a good enough cup of coffee to start his morning. This led him to Chiang Mai, where he spent a year seriously studying how to make a cup of Joe and fell in love with the slower brew methods, which he believes gets the best out of lightly roasted beans. His passion is now enshrined in this small rabbit-hole of a venue, already much-beloved by bike-riding hipsters who drop in to taste the coffee made from his artful equipment and sneak in a few Instagram snaps in the very attractive nook, which Surapan designed himself. Once you’ve visited a few times, you’ll realize the café has a very casual, hang-out feel. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for info about their new branch set to open in a bigger space with a garden, in Sukhumvit Soi 49, around the end of this month. The concept will be similar to the original venue with a choice of siphon (which we highly recommend, B90), French press and drip coffee.
