BANGKOK RESTAURANT

Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory

A Korean chicken-and-beer specialist with a twist.

All-conquering Korean fried chicken specialist Chir Chir (pronounced chi-ruh chi-ruh) has arrived in Bangkok with a flagship store at CentralWorld.

The Seoul-born chain, which counts over 100 restaurants from China to Singapore, is known for its adventurous take on chimaek, in other words Korea’s love of pairing chicken and beer.

The star fried chicken is available in varieties like “crispy,” “garlicky” and “spicy” varieties.

Order yours “garlicky” (B260 for a half bird worth of wings, tenders and drums, B490 for full) for chicken coated with spices and carrying the allure of fried garlic, served along with potato wedges and fried topokki (rice cakes).

For something sweet yet savory, try the “honey butter” chicken (B260/B490) which comes rolled in almonds and cranberries.

Now the weird stuff: the “Nest Snow” (B310/B570) sees crisp chicken served on a bed of silky mash potato and topped with whipped cream. Yep, whipped cream.

The fusion fun doesn’t end with the food. Order the Chir Cream Beer (350ml/B169 and 650ml/B269) to have your Singha topped with freshly whipped, slightly sweet, cream.

Teetotalers can wash down their meal with the Tok Tok mocktail (B239/jug), available in flavors like passion fruit, blue lemonade, green grape and berries.
