Tokyo Neo

Silom gets an izakaya with a colorful twist courtesy of a well-traveled chef.

Putting a twist on your vision of a Japanese izakaya, Tokyo Neo serves easy bites, rolls, and bowls with an 80s retro vibe. Think old-school pop with anime artwork—a funky, vibrant vibe that pairs well with the colorful menu created by chef Goro Takatsu.

Chef Goro hails from Nagoya and worked his way through Europe and Latin America. That means you can expect a mash-up of Western touches within his Japanese staples.

Those include a generous selection of fun rolls, like the Double Dragon (B280), loaded with unagi, avocado, and cucumber; the Surf and Turf Tokyo (B390), with beef tenderloin and kisu (Japanese whiting fish) tempura; and the Angry Shrimp (B260), with prawn tempura, tomato, and chili.

The house favorite and chef’s signature, however, is the juicy-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside karaage (fried chicken, B180), coated here in teriyaki sauce.

There are also donburi bowls (e.g., salmon donburi, B320) as well as robatayaki (charcoal barbecue) with options like tsukune (chicken meatballs, B80), pork belly teriyaki (B80), and addictive, yuzu kosho-kissed chicken wings (B70).

Fun snacks include the root vegetables chips (B130) and a flavorful Japanese tomato salad, shaken up here with a mala-tomato broth, shiso leaf, and eggplant (B180).

Tokyo Neo is open for delivery and takeaway only for the time being. Dine-in will be available soon.
