Too Good for You

This hidden Sathorn cafe on the ninth-floor whips out floral creations.

The buzz: Sathorn’s secretive new cafe whips out floral creations from its garden-inspired perch atop an old office building.

The vibe: Visiting requires squeezing into a tiny, old elevator and basically holding your breath for eight floors. Once there, you need to take a very narrow staircase up another floor. The trek’s totally worth it, though, as you’ll eventually arrive at a photogenic, pink-walled space crawling with plantlife. Another room is lit up by the neon glow of a sign that reads “Too Good for You”—already proving a hit on social media.

The drinks: To match the setting, the coffee and tea concoctions come teeming with flowers, most of which are edible (be sure to ask which is which before munching down). Try the Peanut Butter Coffee (B135), which sees espresso (made with beans from local roaster Roastrunner) mixed with peanut butter and topped with whipped cream cheese—weird but rewarding. Cream cheese also features in the almost-too-beautiful-to-drink Matchalicious (B135), where it sits atop layers of green tea and red bean paste, topped off with a colorful array of petals. This is not really a destination for food, but the peckish can choose from a nibbles like corn on the cob smeared with Sriracha mayo and waffles cooked to order.

Why we’d come back: The thrill of the journey is topped off by an interesting, floral-inspired drinks menu, which soon we’re told will extend to cocktails. Kankanok Wichiantanon
