BANGKOK RESTAURANT

Tor Um Tum

This trendy Isaan (Northeast Thai) joint used to be an oldies' favorite before it got this fresh look to appeal to a younger crowd. The owners are the same however, and the food remains authenic. Try the classic somtam Thai (B40), to be shared with a plate of laab ped (spicy minced duck salad) and yam nuea yang (spicy grilled beef salad). And spicy somtam deserves a beer to go with it—we recommend beerlao.

The latest trendy Isaan joint is Tor Um Tum which is actually sat in the same place and run by the same chef as the old Tum Mour.

The new look draws in a younger crowd seeking authentic Northeastern dishes like somtam Thai (B40), laab ped (spicy minced duck salad, B90) and yam nuea yang (spicy grilled beef salad, B90).

Enjoy it while sampling plenty of local and imported booze like Beerlaos, Asahi and Carlsberg (B79).
