Bad news for waffle and rootbeer float fans as A&W Thailand calls it quits due to huge pandemic losses.

On Mar 1, Global Consumer Public Company Limited, the company holding the license for opening the fast food chain in Thailand, revealed that it has lost more than B70,000,000 in 2021 alone. The company is in the process of terminating A&W businesses in Thailand.

As of now, all of its 26 branches will continue to operate normally until further notice. Whether it will be closed for good or passed to another hand is still uncertain.

The fast food chain first arrived in Thailand in 1983 at Central Ladprao. On Jan 18, A&W closed one of its oldest branches at Siam Square.
