After more than a decade in business, chefs Duangporn “Bo” Songvisava and Dylan Jones are closing their pioneering fine dining restaurant Bo.lan for good. 
 
The couple announced the closure via Instagram earlier today, stating that “the government’s Covid response, and their collective incompetence in shepherding Thailand’s hospitality industry through this pandemic, with an utter lack of financial and political support for small business owners (and in particular our hospitality industry) has certainly contributed” to their decision. The two said it was the right time to bid goodbye and look forward to the next chapter that awaits. 
 
 
Bo.lan opened their doors 13 years ago, taking Thai fine dining to another level with their focus on ancient Thai recipes, uncompromising flavors, and sustainability. The restaurant rose to fame, becoming a stalwart in annual guides, annually earning Michelin stars and ranking at the top of BK’s Top Tables guide each year. Famously, the couple was featured in the Netflix Chef’s Table anthology. 
 
In an extended Instagram story, Jones shared that the two won’t be leaving the industry entirely, but rather have several projects lined up for the future that revolve around food and food systems. 
 
“Whilst we may have made the decision to close Bo.lan ‘the fine dining restaurant,’ we still see Bo.lan Educational Program and Bo.lan grocer as an ongoing platform for change which will continue to promote and safeguard Thai culinary heritage and wisdom, environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and human growth,” he added.
