Talad Noi’s bohemian live music bar, Soulbar, will say goodbye to its original location with three days of live funk and soul bands (what else?) this Aug 9-11

The farewell event, doubling as the bar's fourth anniversary, will be your last chance to squeeze into the cramped confines before demolition of the site begins promptly on Aug 12.

From 8pm each night, bands like NRG Soul & Jazz All Stars and Coco Rouzier (Aug 9), Big Backyard, Benz Blues & The Vintagers (Aug 10), Dead as Disco, Supergoods (Aug 11) will take the stage to what we're imagining will be a raucous reception. Fittingly, the grand finale will be an epic all-star jam.

Co-founder Romain Dupuy tells us the new and improved Soulbar will be tucked in a 100-year-old shop-house in the same neighborhood. Entered via a "long and dark corridor," the live music room will offer more space and more seating than the current venue. There will also be a dedicated cocktail and tap room with a wider range of beers, what they're calling the "first moo ping bar in town," and a second-floor party space.

Opened in mid-2014, Soulbar was among the first of a slew of new bar and gallery openings that breathed new life into Charoenkrung's old shop-houses. From the soul band side project of Apartment Khunpa guitarist Pump Jotikasthira (who’s also a partner in the bar) to the languid, psych-charged sounds of the Lowdowns, the bar forged a reputation for its live music that hits the get-up-and-dance gene.

Here's hoping the new venue maintains that free-wheeling atmosphere—pencil in an opening date some time in September.
