Starting today, visitors will be permitted to enter the new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building until September 16, excluding Sundays. After that, it’s only open to “worthy church members.”

If you’ve been on the Sirat Expressway or ridden by on the airport link at Makkasan, you might have noticed the whopping great LDS Bangkok Thailand Temple taking shape over the last few years, and this may be your only opportunity to check it out.

Eyesore or architectural marvel, you be the judge, but all faiths are welcome to check out this truly unique building, measuring 4,508 square meters.

This building is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. The groundbreaking began in 2019, and Elder Ronald A Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will officially dedicate the temple in October of this year. The Bangkok Thailand Temple is on the site of a former Church office building, acquired by the LDS Church in 2008.

Originating in the early 19th century in the United States, the church highly values missionary work and is often erroneously referred to as one of the fastest growing religions in the world. The church boasts in excess of 17 million members in more than 160 countries.

Those who wish to visit should book their free tours online. Food and drink are not permitted and visitors are reminded to dress respectfully.
