SUPERSWEET Live! wants your demo tape.

The Black Lips concert planners, SUPERSWEET Live!, are looking for a starting band to play during the 7pm slot of the show. They are hosting a contest for unknown local bands to fill that slot. Specific entry details for local bands interested in entering the contest below.

"I'm looking for bands that are themselves and truly believe in what they do," says SUPERSWEET Live! collective member Choltida Pekanan. "But ultimately, it's the suitability of the night's line-up and their ability to play live that's most important."

"This doesn't necessarily mean that they have to sound similar to The Black Lips," says Pekanan, who said in a press release that there is no right or wrong in art and the collective is open to new music.

"There are many talented bands out there that haven't had a chance to prove themselves," says Pekanan. "Since we have the platform, why not? We're all about discovering new ideas, anyway."

Pekanan, who says she has held similar contests while running SUPERSWEET Live! in London where she studied, says that the Thai indie music scene needs more public support to help local musicians grow their talents.

"What lacks is real enthusiasm in the live scene," says Pekanan. "There aren't enough venues, interest and support for the new generation.

It's very important to give people a chance. [We want] to get these bands out there for the world to see."

Nov. 25 is the final day to submit your demo to SUPERSWEET Live!

You can find more details on how to enter and where to send your demo on their website.
