Huge news for Bangkok's bar scene: the founders of Tropic City have joined forces with Sugar Ray's Sitthan “Turk” Sa-Nguankun to launch a new bar.

Coming this December, KONKORD will be an intimate cocktail bar, bistro and club and modern retro-slash-brutalist aesthetic located on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Drawing inspiration from southern Europe's aperitivo culture, the bar promises an array of amaro and vermouth concoctions, alongside classic and spirit-forward cocktails that will put the spotlight on fresh ingredients. Coffee, sandwiches and small bites will also feature.

Placing as much focus on the music as the cocktails, the bar is set to bring a roster of local and international DJs to the decks, playing everything from disco and hip hop to soul and house, while you can expect the same unpretentious, fun-loving atmosphere found at Tropic.

Swedish duo Philip Stefanescu and Sebastian De La Cruz have made their mark on Bangkok since their arrival in 2014, beginning with stints at Lady Brett and Uncle before they opened Tropic City in late 2017. Since then, their Charoenkrung hotspot has gained a no. 31 spot in Asia's 50 Best, as well as being crowned BK BAD Awards Bar of the Year 2018.

Meanwhile, Turk spent time at The Bamboo Bar before blessing Bangkok with huge craft cocktail names, including Sugar Ray You’ve Just Been Poisoned, Q&A, Thaipioka, Sugarray Apartment and Alonetogether.

Though KONKORD will be in soft opening come December, the grand opening is set to take place in January. We'll sure be spending a lot more nights on Soi 11 from now on.
