March in Thailand means you get to see almost every bakery selling their marian plum treats. But where should you go? With a harvest season that only lasts a few weeks, here are a few options to get you this fleeting fruit.

 

Chutie is Baking

Chutima “Ae” Bovonratanachote from Sweet Pista just recently opened her new baking lab at Charoen 43. Among those sweet bites is her mayongchid tartlet (B195), a mouthful of Thailand’s rare seasonal fruit sold one time a year. Ae places a generous portion of mayongchid atop the tartlet, caramelizes some slices of mayongchid in Cointreau, and then stuffs them inside. It’s light and creamy, and the fresh tang from mayongchid balances that sweetness well.
