The Standard Hotels, the taste-making, Hollywood-born hospitality brand, recently announced its flagship project in Thailand: the Peri Hotel, set to open first in Hua Hin and Khao Yai this Oct 1.

Property giant Sansiri acquired the majority stake in Standard International in 2017. Since then, they have set their sights on key markets in Asia. The Peri Hotel brand—specifically the hotels in Hua Hin and Khao Yai, which will take over Sansiri’s pre-existing Escape properties—marks their first of many ventures in Thailand.

Joining the company’s Standard and Bunkhouse brands, the Peri Hotel is designed to make travelers feel at home away from home. The Peri Hotel Khao Yai is all about lush forest landscapes, with the aesthetics inspired by the film “Out of Africa.” The smokehouse and grill, aptly named Chow Barn (villager, in Thai), features traditional live-fire cooking within a wilderness-like atmosphere, as if you’re eating at a campground. You can also pick your own vegetables at the hotel’s organic farm and use the hotel’s bikes to ride around the area.

The Peri Hotel Hua Hin, meanwhile, draws inspiration from Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea” through weathered wooden floorboards that came from old fishermen’s boats, calming ocean blue and white hues, and their take on a traditional mess hall in Chow Lay (fishermen, in Thai). Here, you can pick from freshly caught seafood and have it grilled or steamed in a hotpot, or opt for congee with freshly caught crab.

The Peri Hotel Hua Hin and The Peri Hotel Khao Yai are both available for bookings from Aug 1 onwards for stays starting in Oct, with rates starting from B2,280/night (discounted from B4,500) and an additional 20 percent discount on dining (offer ends Aug 31).
